Glover’s Ice Cream Looking for a Solution to Remain Open

Glover’s Ice Cream owner and CEO Bryan Helm is looking for a solution that would allow Glover’s Ice Cream to remain open and continue to serve the region with its famous high quality ice cream.  Helm said two critical pieces of equipment, cast iron compressors, have both failed.  Quotes to replace both compressors including installation and testing may be approximately $200,000.  

If Glover’s can find a highly skilled welder familiar with cast iron welding whose work could bring the two 1950 era compressors back to life, that would be a game changer.  Short of that, it appears Glover’s needs to go out of business or find a new owner ready to address the problem.

Ironically, some aspects of the Glover’s business look promising.  According to Helm, Purdue University has given Glover’s the OK to sell its popular award-winning Caramel with Chocolate Chip “Boiler Chips” ice cream brand anywhere in the U.S.   

Glover’s Ice Cream has served the area since 1925 and is the last independent ice cream company in Indiana.
