Gordon Eugene Hileman

Gordon Eugene Hileman, 84, of rural Clinton County, passed away on December 3, 2021, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. He was born in Lafayette, on October 24, 1937, to Ralph C. and Marie (Christianson) Hileman. He married Barbara J. Williams on September 12, 1970, at the Brown Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette; she survives.

Gordon graduated from Jeff High School in Lafayette with the class of 1956 then served in the US Air Force. After 22 years of working at Purdue University, Gordon retired in 2000 from the School of Mechanical Engineering at the Zucrow Laboratory where he was a shop supervisor and machinist. He built projects and helped many students to run machinery. He had also worked at Fairfield Manufacturing-Dana Corporation- for 15 years. Gordon enjoyed working in his machine shop at home and building things, NASCAR and Indy racing, fishing, Amateur Radio Operator, and drag racing and had built his own drag racing car. He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator and a member of the Rossville Masonic Lodge #318.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Barbara.

He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 8, 2021, beginning at 1:00 pm until the start of the funeral service at 3:00 pm, at Genda Funeral Home in Rossville with Pastor Bob Raschka officiating and Masonic Rites by the Rossville Masonic Lodge #318. Military rites will be provided by the United States Air Force.
