Harry John Coffman

Harry John Coffman Jr., 84 of Thorntown, Ind., died February 25, 2021 at his home.  He was born October 7, 1936 in Frankfort, Ind. to Harry J. Coffman Sr. and Mary Ruth (Bower) Coffman.  He married Sandra F. Capps on July 8, 1979 in Lebanon, Ind.

John was a 1954 graduate of Frankfort High School, grew up in Frankfort and lived most of his life in Boone County.   He was a delivery driver for Frazier Dairy and Keebler. An accomplished musician, he played for several bands including; Silver Jets, Glory, Banbury Cross, Sundown and toured the country with the band called The Train.  He played guitar, bass and was a singer, and while with The Train, he met people all over the country, including Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley.  John was member of the Teamsters Union.  He enjoyed being with his family, loved being around kids, especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife:  Sandra Coffman of Thorntown, son:  Jeff (Carol) Coffman of Frankfort, 3 daughters:  Joni (Walter) South of Frankfort, Lori Johnson of Kokomo, Sarah Marie (Brian) Welling of San Antonio, TX, step daughter:  Hope Riley Oaks of Indianapolis, 2 brothers:  Larry Coffman of Frankfort, Rick (Deleda) Coffman of Jacksonville, FL, special nephews:  Vince (Amy) Coffman and David (Holly) Coffman, 17 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, 2 brothers and a son-in-law.

 No services are planned.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 S. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.  Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S.
