Healthy Communities Having Trail Walk at Camp Cullom

Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition invites you to enjoy a nature trail walk at Camp Cullom on Saturday July 28, beginning at 8 a.m. This easy one mile walk will be led by local naturalist Jeff Swackhammer. Walkers will meet at the Camp Cullom lodge.

Getting your daily steps in could lead to better cardiovascular health, reduced stress, improved mood and self-esteem, healthy weight, strengthened bones and boosts in creative thinking, according to Every Body Walk!, a national campaign to get adults walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week to achieve better health.

“Walking is one way to help you reach your exercise and fitness goal. You want to walk at a rate fast enough you can’t speak in a full sentence without needing a breath, but not so fast that you can’t speak at all,“ explains Matthew Wolenski, MD. with Indiana University Health Physicians.

For this nature walk, it is recommended to wear hiking shoes for better foot support and safety. Bring binoculars to enhance your outdoor experience and find the hidden gems you will find in the forest and prairie landscapes at Camp Cullom.

Camp Cullom is one of Clinton County’s best kept secrets, located at 6815 W. County Road 200 North, Frankfort. Disconnect from the city and get back to nature. Come see for yourself what you have been missing. Experience one of Clinton County’s highly recommended walking trails.
