Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition is partnering with the Clinton County Fair Council and Buck Up Foundation (Brayton Cooper’s family) to hold the 1st Annual Stepping on Stigma Mental Health Awareness 5K Run/Walk at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds.
Isaac Rudd will also be doing a benefit concert for the Buck Up Foundation at the event. This is a free event. The event will also have vendors, mental health resources, photo booth, family activities, and food available at the event. People can register through HCCCC’s Facebook page. T-shirts will be provided for the first 25 who register. Additional shirts will be available for purchase through our office or at the event.
All proceeds from the concert, T-shirt sales, and donations will go to the Buck Up Foundation. Rob and Tammy Cooper will be doing a short presentation at the event prior to Rudd playing.
Healthy Communities is also starting on a new project called Stop DAT (Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco) for Baby. This is in partnership with the Clinton County Health Department. It is an awareness and education campaign for all of those of child bearing age on the importance of stopping drugs, alcohol, and tobacco before becoming pregnant, and including the impacts of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco on the unborn baby.
This will work off the Baby and Me Tobacco Free program, but expand for alcohol and all drugs. There will also be additional information during the prenatal sessions as well.
For more information on either of these projects, call 659-6063.
