Herbert (Herb) E. Collins II, 68, of Frankfort, Ind. passed away on March 30, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born September 8, 1954 in Lafayette, Ind. to Herbert E. & Janice (Felthoff) Collins. He married Laura Matzen on June 10, 1978 in Frankfort and she survives.
Herb was a 1973 graduate of Frankfort High School and lived in Clinton County his entire life. He retired from Sun Chemical, Inc. in Frankfort after 42 admirable years of employment as a Senior Lab Technician. He was of the Catholic Faith. Herb was a member of the Frankfort Moose Lodge for many years and enjoyed the camaraderie of the summer golf league. He was an avid softball player in his younger years and built an affinity for the golf course later in life. He was lifelong I.U. Hoosier basketball fan. He enjoyed the outdoors immensely, through activities such as hunting, camping with his young family and fishing.
He helped nurture his five beloved grandchildren, Nathan, Rhett, Vada, River and Griffin – and looked forward to welcoming another grandchild due this May.
His family includes his wife: Laura Collins of Frankfort, daughter: Bethany (Adam) Wojtkiewicz of Indianapolis, sons: Nathan (Robin) Collins of Columbus, OH and Nicholas (Camille) Collins of Battleground, sisters: Sheila (Craig) McCarty of Georgia and Janella (Ned) Pearcy of Frankfort.
Funeral Service:
Visitation will be from 12 Noon-2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 S. Mary’s Ave., Frankfort. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Buntin Cemetery. Memorials donations may be made to the American Diabetes Fund or to the Collins family for a tree to be planted at The Frankfort Commons Golf Course.
