The 2026 Hickory Hustle 5K & 10K Run and Kids Run is set to take place Saturday morning, August 1, in Colfax as part of the annual Ole Hickory Days celebration.
Runners, walkers, and families from across the area are invited to participate in the event, which begins with the 5K and 10K races at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Kids Run at 9 a.m.
This year’s race honors the memory of Joe Buedel, a longtime Colfax resident, Elder and Youth Leader at Colfax Christian Church, and dedicated volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. Organizers hope the event will celebrate Buedel’s legacy of service while raising awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and supporting his family.
All proceeds and donations from the race will benefit the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Buedel family.
The race course is mostly flat and features a scenic section of the Big 4 Trail, offering an enjoyable route for participants of all ages and ability levels.
Those who have not yet registered can still do so on race morning at the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department, located at 103 W. Main St. Registration opens before the race, with the starting line at the fire station and the finish line at Colfax Christian Church, 314 S. Clark St.
After the race, participants are invited to enjoy a free breakfast at Colfax Christian Church. Donations for the breakfast are appreciated and will benefit the church’s Dorcas Ladies ministry.
