High Wind Warning Upgrades Earlier Wind Advisory for Central Indiana

The National Weather Service has upgraded the Wind Advisory issued earlier this morning to a High Wind Warning for parts of central and north central Indiana, including Clinton County.

According to the warning, west winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are forecast. The warning will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT Friday.

Areas included in the warning are Carroll, Clinton, Howard, Tipton, Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Hancock, Henry and Rush counties.

Officials say the strong winds could blow down trees and power lines, and widespread power outages are possible. Travel may also become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles such as trucks, vans and buses.

Residents are advised to remain in the lower levels of their homes during the windstorm and stay away from windows if possible. People should also watch for falling debris and tree limbs and use caution if travel is necessary.

Officials encourage residents to secure loose outdoor items and stay alert for changing weather conditions throughout the day.

Drivers are urged to use caution if travel is necessary, as strong crosswinds may create hazardous conditions on area roads.
