History Will Be Made In Case Arena Saturday At Regional Basketball

Regardless of which teams advance in Saturday’s IHSAA boys basketball regional games, there will be history made.

Laschelle Hatcher age 52, assigned to officiate the Frankfort regional, will be the first woman to referee a boys regional game in Indiana. Hatcher, 52, is a Fort Wayne native who lives in Indianapolis.

Laschelle Hatcher will be the first woman to work a high school boys basketball regional on Saturday.
Hatcher, who has worked sectional tournaments each of the past seven years, found out Sunday she was selected to work the regional.

Hatcher was an alternate this year for the girls state finals.

Last week, she worked the Class A sectional at Tri-Central, which Liberty Christian won.

Hatcher “Quoted” saying to Indy Star

“To be perfectly honest, this may be my last year,” she said. “I’m going to take the summer and think about it, but I have some other things I’d like to do. I feel like I’m good and on top of my game right now and I’d like to stay involved in the basketball arena, but I’m not sure exactly what that is right now.”
