The next Hoosier Storytellers program will feature two Clinton County legacy businesses: The Old Gray Barn and Anderson Flower Farm. This program will be held in the Library’s Skanta Theatre on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.
Todd and Gina Mitchell, the husband-and-wife team behind The Old Gray Barn, will share the story of their unique event venue. Situated on more than 50 scenic acres, this historical venue featuring modern amenities is surrounded by mature trees and grasses, seasonal blooms, and a recently added wildflower field. In addition to the beautifully restored barn, they have an outdoor chapel nestled in the woods, and guests can be transported to and from the ceremony site. The Mitchells will share the history of the barn, their deep connection to the property, and the restoration process that preserved its historic character while enhancing it for today’s celebrations.
Anderson Flower Farm is a U-pick flower business located on the Stine-Anderson Family Farm. In 2025, Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Farm Bureau selected the Stine-Anderson Family Farm to receive the John Arnold Award for Rural Preservation. In 2020, they expanded their operation by adding a U-pick flower farm, offering visitors an exceptional selection of seasonal flowers. The flower farm is operated by Stan and Lois Anderson, along with Stan’s brother, Don Anderson, and Don’s daughter, Lyndsay Ploehn. During the presentation, the Andersons, including brother Phil Anderson, will share the history of their family farm. Lois will discuss the U-pick flower experience and special events hosted during the summer.
Hoosier Storytellers is an ongoing series where host Michael Clossin interviews guests of local interest as they discuss their unique experiences. The presentations usually last an hour, followed by questions from the audience. This session will be recorded live on YouTube and will be archived on the library’s website at myfcpl.org/online/podcasts/hoosier_storytellers. Registration is not required, and this program is free and open to the public.
