House Fire in Jamestown Results in One Fatality

At approximately 7:12 p.m. Thursday, the Boone County Communications Center received a call from a good samaritan that the residence of 3323 S 700 W, Jamestown, was on fire. Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, along with all the agencies listed below, responded to the scene.

As fire personnel engaged in extinguishing the fire, two explosions took place. The explosions were found to be caused by two oxygen tanks. Multiple other oxygen tanks were located within the residence and were removed quickly before the fire was able to reach them. While conducting a search of the residence, fire personnel located the owner of the residence, Bobby Shelton (71 yrs), deceased within a bathroom area. Shelton was the only occupant within the residence at the time of the incident.
