Several school districts in counties with cases of COVID-19 have announced school closures in the last 24 hours. We have been in close contact with the Howard County Health Department, the Indiana Department of Education, and other Howard County school districts and governmental agencies.
We recognize that while this situation is not ideal for students, staff, or parents, it is important for the health and safety of our overall community. We have used eLearning on multiple occasions and are confident that this experience will be as successful as possible, given the circumstances.
Also, we would like express our sincere gratitude to all the dedicated people at the Howard County Health Department, the other Howard County school districts, and to our staff who have been working tirelessly to prepare and plan for our students and families.
There are many questions surrounding the COVID-19 virus and its impact on our schools. We will continue to share information and update you as regularly as possible.
Beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, Eastern School Corporation, Northwestern School Corporation, Taylor School Corporation, and Western School Corporation will close all schools through the end of spring break. This was based on guidance from the Howard County Health Department and in collaboration with other local and surrounding school districts and governmental agencies. We will continue to monitor and reassess the situation as this is continuing to evolve.
Each school district will notify their parents and community members of eLearning requirements and other individual school related matters.
