An internal investigation at the Howard County Sheriff’s Office resulted in four felony charges for a male corrections officer who reportedly engaged in sexual relations with a currently incarcerated female inmate.
On Monday, April 15, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office reportedly began an internal investigation after receiving a complaint that a male corrections officer, Terrion Henderson, 23, had been having sexual relations with a currently incarcerated female. The Sheriff’s Office reported that at the time of the incident, Henderson was a 0-month employee of the Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, detectives found that the female inmate was released from the Howard County Jail on March 17 and was sentenced to work release. However, on March 25, the female inmate received multiple Facebook messages from Henderson while on work release, authorities report. The Sheriff’s Office released a comprehensive look into the Facebook messages.
During the course of their conversation, Henderson commented on her looks and stated “…I’d love to get to know you”.
Henderson then asks the female for her cell phone number so that they can continue to talk via text message.
While chatting via text message, Henderson continues to send flirtatious messages while the female is in work release. Henderson then asks, “Do they check yall phones…?” The female responded, “Yeah I deleted our messages should we talk on Snapchat?…” Henderson then asks the female for her snapchat and stated “just to be on the good side lol”. The rest of the communications between the two would occur via snapchat and the female confirmed that all of those conversations were deleted.
On April 1, surveillance video from the Sheriff’s Office reportedly showed Henderson leaving the parking lot in a white Chevrolet Malibu just after 2 p.m., and the surveillance video from work release showed the same vehicle, with the license plate confirmed, pulling into the parking lot at 3 p.m. where the female inmate entered the front passenger seat.
According to the reports from the investigation, the female inmate stated that after entering the vehicle, Henderson drove her to Chrysler where she is employed where he slipped off her community corrections bracelet as a means of covering her tracks. Reports show that the GPS data received from the bracelet confirms that the bracelet remained at Chrysler from 3:20 p.m. until it eventually turned off at 8:24 p.m.
According to the report from the Sheriff’s Office, Henderson and the female inmate proceeded to her home after leaving the bracelet at Chrysler, but the investigation revealed that the stories did not align perfectly between the two during the beginning of the investigation.
The female inmate stated that Henderson then drove to her house in Peru where the couple had sexual intercourse. A few hours later, Henderson left the residence alone. The female inmate stated that she stayed home and consumed alcohol and illegal drugs. The next day, the female inmate turned herself in for violating her work release contract. She was subsequently charged with escape and her custody was transferred back to the Howard County Jail.
On April 16, 2024, an interview with Henderson was conducted by detectives. During the course of the interview, Henderson changed his story multiple times and initially denied any of the aforementioned allegations made by the female inmate. As the interview progressed, Henderson admitted to picking the female inmate up from work release, driving her to her home in Peru and to having sexual relations while there.
Following the investigation, Henderson was reportedly booked into the Howard County Jail and was immediately transferred to another facility on charges of sexual misconduct by a service provider, Level 5 Felony, official misconduct, Level 6 Felony, obstruction of justice, Level 6 Felony, and assisting a criminal, Level 6 Felony.
