At approximately 4:02 a.m. Saturday, Howard County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Officers requested an ambulance for an unconscious/unresponsive male inmate. Correctional Officers and responding Deputies promptly began CPR until paramedics from St. Vincent arrived on scene four minutes later. The male inmate was transported to an area hospital and is currently waiting to be transferred to an Indianapolis area hospital at the time of this release.
Preliminary investigation indicates that this is a suicide attempt. Due to the nature of this incident, any further comment or names are being withheld until proper emergency contact notification has been made to the families involved.
