Clinton County Humane Society Director’s Interim Term Ends

Ben Pfeffer, Interim Director for the Humane Society of Clinton County Inc., completed his interim position on October 8.

Pfeffer was appointed the Interim Director August 20 for an unspecified term to manage the Shelter. After he reported October 1 that he was leaving October 31, Pfeffer continued to encounter micromanagement issues with the Board leadership that resulted in an early departure. The Board leadership is now running the Shelter.

In a prepared statement, Pfeffer said, “I am especially proud of the new staff and their dedication to keeping the Shelter clean, safe and healthy for the animals. They are the very reason the Shelter is successful. With the addition of the veterinary technician to the staff, the Shelter can now administer critical vaccines early and monitor animal sickness recovery better.

“I want to thank all of the volunteers and close friends that stepped up and helped us clean, repair and improve the facility for the dogs and cats. There are so many to thank, I am humbled by the support. .No one who was asked ever declined to help the animals and that is a community coming together. We could not be where we are today without the volunteers.”

Vendors as well answered the call for assistance. J.W. Ridgeway, TL Meyers, Trustworthy Appliance, McCollums Appliance, Wamplers, Chip Douglas Septic, Dean Newhart, Herbie and Cindy Danner, ProByte Computers, all contributed time, materials and talent to make the Shelter better. I really appreciate all they did for the animals.

Pfeffer was named the Interim Director after Jim Tate was fired last month.

WILO News attempted to reach Humane Society President Nancy Elsea by phone. She did not return those calls.
