The Humane Society of Clinton County recently received a donation from the American Legion Post #12 in Frankfort amidst the shelter’s requests for donations and campaign to showcase its residents available for adoption.

The American Legion Post #12’s donation falls in line with The Humane Society’s request for donations of dry cat food, cat pillows, catnip toys, kitten food and more during the holiday season. The Humane Society continued to state that small or medium stainless steel attached bowls are also needed by the shelter. The Humane Society released an Amazon wishlist for potential donors to explore. The wishlist may be found online or by visiting The Humane Society of Clinton County, Indiana on Facebook.
“Of course they do not have to be these specific toys, we will take anything,” the Humane Society posted. “When it comes to adult cat food, Purina brand only please. Thank yous so so much in advance.”
The Humane Society has also been launching a campaign to showcase its residents to the community, including two newer residents, Gooseberry and Blackberry, who remain at the shelter as a bonded pair. The duo were found inside of a carrier that was left in the middle of a sidewalk and eventually found themselves at the Humane Society. Gooseberry is a previous resident of the Humane Society, being adopted in 2020, while Blackberry is a new resident and the best friend of Gooseberry.
“The person who found them saw multiple people go right past them and couldn’t just leave them there,” the Humane Society posted. “Thankfully, we microchip all our animals, so they knew Goose was from us and of course we wanted him back. These two are the same age and cling to each other. They are always right next to each other cuddling. We would like them to stay together.”
Other residents that have recently received the spotlight are Cedric, who was introduced to the Humane Society as an overweight stray who underwent a weightloss regiment utilizing veterinary prescriptions and weightloss food to return him to a healthy weight. Through the efforts of The Humane Society staff, Cedric was able to lost 30 pounds, reducing his weight from 103 pounds to 73 pounds.
“He is more ready now than ever for his forever home,” the Humane Society posted. “We believe it is best if he is the only pet, but we will never rule it out. If you have dogs and want to give it a try, we are down for a meet and greet, but hasn’t found a friend just yet.”
The Humane Society has also released some success stories recently, including the case of Sweet Pea and Loretta, who were waiting for 254 days for their forever family. The two sisters are currently pending for adoption.
Numerous other residents are available for adoption with more information posted on The Humane Society social media pages, including residents such as Howard, a new pup on the block, Jasmine, a larger breed dog, Ginsburg and Flanagan, who recently visited the Frankfort Farmers Market, and many more.
