Illinois Man Arrested After Early Morning Pursuit on Interstate 74

Just after midnight Monday morning, Trooper Howell was patrolling Interstate 74 near the 20-mile marker. Trooper Howell attempted to stop a 2017 Chevrolet Impala for speeding. The driver, Lysirick Miller, 19, from Decatur, IL, failed to stop for Trooper Howell and fled eastbound on Interstate 74.

Trooper Howell continued to pursue the vehicle eastbound on Interstate 74 to the 33-mile marker, where the Crawfordsville Police Department deployed tire deflation devices across the interstate. The Impala struck the tire deflation devices and came to a stop on the exit ramp from Interstate 74 to US 231. Miller was safely taken into custody and later transported to Montgomery County Jail.

Lysirick Miller, 19, from Decatur, IL, faces preliminary charges, including:

  1. Resisting Law Enforcement – Level 6 Felony
  2. Reckless Driving – Class A Misdemeanor
  3. Criminal Recklessness – Class B Misdemeanor
