Illinois Woman in Custody Following Early Morning Pursuit

Early Wednesday morning, Trooper Benjamin Fike attempted to stop a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer for traveling over 100 mph in a 65 mph zone, northbound on Interstate 65 near the 175 mile-marker. The driver, later identified to be Cheyanne Kryger a 19-year-old female from Park Forest, IL, began to pull the vehicle over to the right side of the road. Before the vehicle came to a stop, it pulled back into traffic and sped off at a high rate of speed. Trooper Fike continued after the vehicle and initiated a pursuit.

A few miles into the pursuit, the vehicle began to have mechanical issues and started smoking. The pursuit continued northbound on Interstate 65 to the 198 mile-marker, where the vehicle came to a stop due to mechanical issues. Officers on scene were able to safely take Kyger into custody.

Kyger was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle and Reckless Driving. Kyger was transported to Tippecanoe County Jail.
