At the request of the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and Tippecanoe County Community Corrections, the Indiana State Police is currently investigating a death at a Tippecanoe County Community Corrections facility that occurred last Thursday.
According to reports, a preliminary investigation revealed that on Dec. 12, just before 9:30 p.m., staff at the Community Corrections facility were notified of a possible medical emergency in one of the rooms, and upon arrival, Community Corrections staff located an unresponsive individual.
Reports stated that the staff began administering medical aid as Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene and transported the inmate to an area hospital. The inmate later succumbed to their injuries. The Tippecanoe County Coroner pronounced the inmate deceased.
The investigators reported that at this stage of the investigation, no indication of foul play has been found, but the incident will remain under active investigation with further information expected to be released as it becomes available, including the name of the inmate by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.
The Indiana State Police was assisted in this investigation by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, Tippecanoe County Community Corrections, Tippecanoe County EMS and the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office.
