Indiana Tourism Association Headed to Hendricks County

Inside INdiana Business is reporting the Indiana Tourism Association has chosen Hendricks County as the host for its annual conference in March 2019. The two-day event, which will be held in central Indiana for the first time in four years, is expected to draw more than 300 tourism professionals from throughout the state.

The Indiana Tourism Conference will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Plainfield, which is still under construction and expected to be complete in the fall of 2018. The association says the conference will include an off-site banquet at the new CRG Event Center located inside The Shops at Perry Crossing.

“We are thrilled to be headed to Hendricks County in 2019,” said Carrie Lambert, executive director of the Indiana Tourism Association. “The committee was impressed by the thought that went into the proposal but also excited about the opportunity to be one of the first events in the new conference center. We look forward to enjoying all aspects of Hendricks County.”

Construction began on the $25 million Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in April. Jamie Bohler Smith, executive director of Visit Hendricks County, says the conference is exactly the type of business her organization expected to attract with the development.

Smith says the county is also in negotiations with three other conference organizers for potential future events.

“We truly are a player now in meeting and conference business,” said Smith. “If it wasn’t for the new conference center, we would have never landed something like this, and the economic impact from this and other future conferences and events will be felt throughout our county.”
