Indianapolis Suspect Arrested for Road Rage Incident in May on I-465

Indiana State Police Detectives have arrested an 18 year old Indianapolis man for pointing a firearm and intimidation with a deadly weapon. The arrest stems from a road rage incident May 9, 2023, on I-465 on the north side of Indianapolis. Investigators determined 18 year old Jayion Shelton was in a white Hyundai that was traveling eastbound on I-465 east of Michigan Road. The driver of the Hyundai became engaged in a road rage incident with another vehicle, leading to Shelton standing up through the sunroof of the Hyundai, facing backwards toward the victim, and pointing a handgun while traveling on the interstate. A short time later, Shelton allegedly pointed the firearm out the back window at the same victim.

Detectives were able to locate the vehicle, which was registered to Shelton, and were able to identify Shelton as their suspect. With evidence collected, investigators developed enough probable cause to arrest Shelton. He was arrested Tuesday August 8, 2023 and transported to the Marion County Jail in Indianapolis.

Footage from a dash camera, installed in a private vehicle, was instrumental in the conclusion of this investigation.
