Beginning Monday, April 27, crews closed a stretch of U.S. 421/S.R. 39 between Gibson Court and County Road 800 North to allow for a culvert replacement project. The work was originally scheduled to begin in July but was moved up due to the deteriorating condition of the existing structure.
Construction is expected to continue through September, though officials note that the timeline is weather-dependent and may change as the project progresses.
During the closure, the official detour route directs drivers along State Road 26 to State Road 75 before reconnecting with U.S. 421/39. Transportation officials are advising motorists to plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
