At approximately 11:22 p.m. Friday, Trooper Abby Russell was patrolling US 31 near County Road 800 N. when she stopped the driver of a 2018 Mercedes-Benz for driving 121 mph. The driver was identified as Brandon K. Harvey, 34, of Michigan. Harvey had an active warrant out of Cass County. Harvey displayed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. Further investigation revealed he had a preliminary BrAC of .18%.
Trooper Russell transported Harvey to a local hospital, where he refused to submit to a certified test. A subsequent Miami County Superior II search warrant for a blood test was granted and later executed. The results of that test are pending. Trooper Russell transported Harvey to the Miami County Jail.
