ISP Investigating Stabbing at Miami Correctional Facility

At approximately 12:51 p.m. Tuesday, staff at the Miami Correctional Facility responded to a stabbing in the prison’s B Housing Unit, in which an inmate was severely injured.

At the request of the staff, at the Miami Correctional Facility, detectives from the Indiana State Police Peru Post will handle the investigation.

The preliminary evidence by Indiana State Police Detective Brent Ingram revealed that Arthur Andrews, 27, Indianapolis, IN, was stabbed multiple times, with a homemade knife, by another inmate.

Andrews was flown, via medical helicopter, to an Indianapolis hospital. He is currently in intensive care.

Andrews is serving a sentence on a burglary charge.

This case is still under investigation. Suspect (s) information is being verified.
