It was at the bottom of the exit ramp, Sgt. Mull activated his emergency lights on his fully marked state police commission, in order to conduct a traffic stop. The pickup truck ran through the red light once Sgt. Mull’s lights came on and a pursuit of the vehicle was initiated. The truck turned south bound on SR-25 and attempted to flee before coming to another red light on the other side of the I-65 intersection. The truck attempted to squeeze through a line of traffic and run the red light. The truck crashed into multiple vehicles before continuing through the red light.
South bound on SR-25, the truck approached the Sagamore Parkway intersection where another red light was displayed. The truck again crashed into a line of vehicles waiting on the red light. Disregarding the traffic light, the truck continued south on Schuyler Avenue at approximately 15 mph. Once the truck reached 20th Street, in a nearby alley, three male occupants fled the truck on foot. Sgt. Mull pursued the driver of the truck and located him a short distance away, attempting to gain entry into another vehicle.
The other two occupants of the truck were located a short time later by other officers. It should be noted that all occupants of the pickup truck were Juveniles. A search warrant of the truck was applied for and granted. Located inside the truck was a Berretta handgun. Charges for the three juveniles included: Criminal Recklessness, Resisting Law Enforcement, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash, Possession of Marijuana, Pointing a Handgun, Possession of a Handgun without a License, Reckless Driving, Aggressive Driving, and Intimidation.
