IU Health Arnett Recognized as Hospital Distinction for Infant and Maternal Health

Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital was recognized as a Hospital of Distinction by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA), in partnership with Governor Eric J. Holcomb and State Health Commissioner Kris Box, MD, FACOG, for their commitment to infant and maternal health at the third annualINspire Hospital of Distinction recognition program.

INspire, funded by the Indiana Department of Health’s Safety PIN grant, was developed to implement the delivery of best practice care for Hoosier moms and babies and recognize hospitals for excellence in addressing key drivers of infant and maternal health.

IU Health Arnett Hospital earned this recognition based on implementing best practices in six key areas: infant safe sleep, breastfeeding, tobacco prevention and cessation, perinatal substance use, obstetric hemorrhage and maternal hypertension.

“I am incredibly proud of the work our teams do across our Maternal Child Health service line at IU Health Arnett, both inpatient and outpatient,” shares Selina McNulty, clinic operations manager of labor and delivery and mother/baby at IU Health Arnett Hospital.  “We all strive to deliver the best quality care that our patients deserve. Our teams are always doing all they can to make sure patients are safe, well cared for and receiving care that reflects best practices to reduce and eliminate maternal and infant mortality in the state of Indiana.

“IU Health Arnett’s dedication to quality improvement in maternal and child health is truly inspirational,” said Brittany Waggoner, IHA Maternal and Infant Quality Improvement Advisor. “Despite the challenges our Indiana delivering facilities are facing today, they remain committed to creating a highly-reliable obstetric care system for moms and babies across Indiana.”

Indiana Hospital Association serves as the professional trade association for more than 170 acute care, critical access, behavioral health, and other specialized hospitals in Indiana.
