Jacqueline Jo Metzger née Mink 82, of Rossville passed away on February 4, 2026, after a lengthy illness. She was born September 16, 1943, in Frankfort, Indiana to Joseph and Edna (Adkins) Mink. They, along with her husband, Joe, and beloved daughter Missi all departed this earthly plane before her.
Jackie was a devoted wife to Joe for 60 years, an exceptional Mom to Missi, Mandi (Jeff) Pennington and Ty (Sara), an entertaining grandmother to Payne, Paige (Joe) Heeb , Edie, and Jack, the greatest of great grandmothers to Elias and Isaac, and the best fishing buddy a mother-in-law could ever be to her dearest Jeff. She was also a cherished big sister to Joe (Julie) Mink, and a dear friend to too many people from Frankfort and Rossville to mention.
Jackie loved dancing, gardening, reading, Scottish Terriers, and colloquialisms. To borrow from some of her oft used phrases, she loved to stay busy as a cranberry merchant in her flower beds. In her last three years she showed herself to be as independent as a hog on ice. She kept track of the weather whether it be hotter than Billy B. Damned or even colder than Billy B. Damned. Jackie was as versatile as Billy B. Damned, and put everyone at ease even if she didn’t know them from Adam’s off ox.
She was a master finisher of fine woodworking and helped finish and install many luxury hardwood cabinets throughout the kitchens of Indiana. Later in life, she devoted many years to the children of her adopted hometown, Rossville, by serving as a substitute teacher. Even though she became a Hornet, she stayed in close touch with her Class of ’61 Frankfort Hot Dogs.
Last week Jackie summed up her life the best “I’ve just been so blessed to have such a wonderful life with such a loving family and friends. And I’ve seen so many beautiful things.” Well, if she took the time to look at herself, she would know we all got to share the life of a beautiful person, inside and out.
In accordance with her wishes, and what has become a family tradition, Jackie did not want to have a service. If you would like to memorialize her, leave a message (especially a funny story about her) here on the website. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the school payable to RCSD (memo Care Closet/Christmas Angel) PO Box 530, Rossville. Personal condolences can be sent to PO Box 114, Rossville, IN 46065.
