The original release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office follows:
At approximately 12:33 p.m. on Monday, July 23, Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies, Lebanon Fire Department and Kirklin Fire Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of CR 850 N and CR 550 E, involving a Zore’s tow truck and a another vehicle.
The Zore’s tow truck, a 2005 Ford F650, driven by Dayne Zielinski, 26, from Fremont was traveling west bound on 850 N. Zielinski was returning to his companies tow yard with a vehicle on his flat bed from an earlier crash. As Zielinski was crossing the intersection of 850 N and 550 E, a 2000 Ford Mustang, driven by Quick, continued northbound on 550 E without stopping at the intersection.
The north and south bound traffic on CR 550 E has to stop at this intersection, east and westbound traffic on CR 850 N are not required to stop. The Mustang struck the tow truck on the driver side and both vehicles left the roadway and can to rest in a bean field on the northwest side of 850 N.
Zielinski was transported in stable condition to St. Vincent Hospital for injuries to shoulder and collar bone. Quick was transported by StatFlight Helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in critical condition. The crash is under investigation by the Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team. Drugs or Alcohol are not believed to be involved at this time.
