James Carl Cooper

James Carl Cooper, 87, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospice House in Indianapolis.  He was born on January 20, 1930 in Monroe County, Kentucky to William Howard & Kittie (Creek) Cooper.  Jim married Lois “Jean” Lucas on August 16, 1953 in Cutler and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2011.

At a young age, Jim moved to Frankfort and attended Frankfort High School.  He was in the United States Army and served state side during the Korean War.  He worked as a crane operator at ALCOA and retired after 33 years of service.  After retiring, he worked in maintenance at the Frankfort Eagles Lodge for 17 years.  He was a Golden Eagle at the Frankfort Eagles Aerie 976 and a member of the American Legion Post 12.  His passion was woodworking and he also enjoyed jewelry making, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his Daughters:  Debra Dieterle (Companion:  David Hamilton), Sandra Rudd (Companion:  Kenny Faulkner), and Cherri (Husband: Ben) Flora;  Sons:  Gary (Wife: Sara) Cooper and Danny Cooper all of Frankfort;  Brother:  Donald Wayne Cooper of Forest;  A Niece who was loved like a daughter:  Joni (Husband: Walt) Coffman South of Frankfort;  11 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by ­­­an infant daughter:  Brenda Cooper and 4 brothers and a sister.

A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 South Main Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at the funeral home.  Burial with Military Honors will follow services in Rossville Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Frankfort Salvation Army, 300 West Washington Street, Frankfort.  Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com to share a memory or to order flowers for the family.
