James Charles “Red” Winget, eleven days shy of turning 101, of Frankfort, passed away July 30, 2025 at the home of his daughter.  He was born August 10, 1924 in Knox County, Missouri to Francis Luther & Lina Mae (Harris) Winget.  He married Viola Ruth Gant on October 8, 1943 and she preceded him in death on October 21, 1998.

Red was the Valedictorian of his graduating class.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was believed to be the last surviving U.D.T. Frogman of the South Pacific WWII. He attended the Navy Seal Museum in Florida as an Honoree.  Red was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything with his brother.

Red is survived by his children, Linda Bell of Dayton, Mary Richards of Frankfort and John Winget of Frankfort, daughter-in-law, Kathy Winget of Frankfort, son-in-law, Paul Reddix of Mulberry, 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by son, Jimmy Winget, daughters, Sandra K. Reddix, Carolyn Parsons, infant daughter, Wanda Winget, brothers, Ledru Winget, Wayne Winget, Dale Winget, sisters, Nadine Tobin, Neoma Parks, Wilda Winget McDonald and son-in-law, Monte “Donnie” Parson.

Visitation will be 12 Noon-2 p.m. August 10, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St. Frankfort.  Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral Home.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.  Memorial donations may be made to the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, 300 N A1A, Fort Pierce, FL 34949.  Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence.
