James E. “Buzz” Mooneyhan, 86, of Pickard, passed away June 10, 2026 at Mulberry Health. He was born on August 22, 1939 in St. Charles, Virginia to Roy Edward “Sleepy” and Lillie (Thomas) Mooneyhan. He married Shirley A. Snodgrass on April 14, 1963 in Pickard and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2026.
Buzz attended school in St. Charles, Virginia and served in the United States Air Force. He worked for Emerson Appliance Controls in Frankfort for 44 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved Elvis and enjoyed singing and fishing.
Surviving are his children: Nancy Salem (Jon Jarrett) of Mulberry and son: Jeff (Sally) Mooneyhan of Michigantown, siblings: Eugene (Jeanette) Mooneyhan of Jonesville, VA, Mary Sexton of Pennington Gap, VA and Barbara (Ronnie) McFarland of Pennington Gap, VA, sisters-in-law: Sally Mooneyhan of New York and Becky McNeil of Rose Hill, VA, along with grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Salem of Kirklin, Nicholas (Gabby Klippel) Salem of Frankfort, Kyle (Taylor) Mooneyhan of Morrow, OH, Trent Mooneyhan of Kokomo, step-grandchild, Devon Freeman of Lafayette, Nolan Freeman of Michigantown, great-grandchildren, Grace Salem, Kaylee Salem, Layton Salem, Harper Klippel, Cooper Salem, Kolton Mooneyhan, Ryler Mooneyhan, and step-great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Bentley & Lily Freeman. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings: Lee Roy Mooneyhan, Mike Mooneyhan, Shirley Woliver, and Phillip Mooneyhan.
Friends may visit 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence.
