James E. Walker, 82, of Frankfort, Ind., passed away January 16, 2026 at the Waters of Greencastle.  He was born on June 22, 1943 in Monroe, Indiana to Stephen W. Walker and Jesse Loraine (Fields) McGill.

James attended Frankfort High School and served in the United States Navy from July 1960 to June 1964.  After his service, he worked for Mallory Controls in Frankfort for 17 years and was a mechanic for 10 years.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #12 and a previous member of the Frankfort Eagles.  Jim enjoyed bowling and coin collecting and working on cars.

Surviving are his children: Ralph (Merry) Walker of Danville, Kerri Smith (Terry Baker) of Lebanon, James A. Walker of Columbus, and Jessica Marsh of Frankfort, several grandchildren, and nephews: Mike Walker, John Walker, and Steve Walker all of Frankfort.  He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father: Junior McGill, daughter: Lorene Michelle Walker, and brother: Stephen Walker.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit from Noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Private burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort.  Memorial donations may be made in James’s honor to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010.  Please visit archerweston.com, where you may share a message with the family.
