James Edward Smith, 49, of Frankfort passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 16, 2018, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born December 16, 1968, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Hubert Earl and Janet Marie (Gosnell) Smith. On June 27, 1993, he married Bridget Ann Barkley.
James worked at Mike Raisor Ford service department as a porter He previously worked for Gander Mountain and spent 10 years with Donaldson’s. He was an avid fisherman and member of the County Line Fishing Club. He was also a NASCAR fan and specifically, Jeff Gordon. James enjoyed a good bonfire and spending time tinkering in his garage. James’ and Bridget’s dogs held a special place in their hearts as part of their family. He was a very caring man who never met a stranger.
In addition to his wife, Bridget, James is survived by his mother; sister, Elizabeth Crow of Georgia, and an extended family that he loved tremendously.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, March 19, 2018.
