James F. Seibert

James F. Seibert, 63, of Colfax, Ind., passed away June 13, 2023 in his home.  He was born on July 15, 1959 in Frankfort to the late Leonard Seibert and Mary (Orander) Bowen of Lafayette.  He married Melissa (Billue) Michal of Frankfort and they later divorced.

James (Jim) was a 1978 graduate of Frankfort Senior High School and attended Ivy Tech. In his youth, he was top in the state as a paper delivery boy and last worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Stalcop Metal Forming in Thorntown.  Jim was a member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge #129 in Odell, Ind. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, riding his motorcycle and had a suspicious nostalgia for streaking. He loved cookouts and campfires with his children and grandchildren. Jim will leave a legacy of the proper way to barbecue chicken, to never hold back on gifting candy to the grandkids on holidays (regardless of what the parents say), the joy of car rides as a family through the country and the importance of always keeping a sense of adventure in life. Jim was adamant that the best way to eat watermelon is with salt and multiple hugs are needed to say goodbye.  Above all, he loved fishing with his sons and his daughters’ good cooking.
