James N. Ploughe, 89, of rural Kirklin, Ind., died August 4, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, Ind. He was born May 14, 1931 in Pickard, Ind. to Preston A. and Bessie (Douglas) Ploughe. He married Evelyn B. Cocheran on July 29, 1960 in Kirklin and she survives.
James was a 1949 graduate of Sugar Creek High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War and served in Berlin. He worked in maintenance at Chrysler for 36 years, retiring in 1990. James was a member of the Kirklin American Legion, Post 310. He collected coins and enjoyed auctions, Euchre, and family get togethers.
He is survived by his Wife: Evelyn B. Ploughe of rural Kirklin; Daughters: Patricia Parks of Michigantown and Judith Lynn (Rick) Lashbrook of Frankfort; Son: Norman Lee (Kelli) Ploughe of Michigantown; Brother: Dale (Arlene) Ploughe of rural Frankfort; 2 Sisters: Dortha Thompson of Brookston and Norma Macis of Austin, Texas; 6 Grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 5 brothers: Preston W., Ralph D., Thomas R., William H., and Joseph E. and 6 sisters: Lois E. Boone, Mabel D. Sotzing, Vera M. King, Verna G. Reddish, Mary D. Walker, and Margie A. Ploughe.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort. Friends may visit Noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Karl Kercheval will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin, Ind. Out of respect for the health, safety, and comfort of all in attendance, guests will be expected to adhere to current CDC guidelines regarding appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks.
