James N. Thompson, 90, of Frankfort, died February 9, 2024 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, Ind. He was born June 2, 1933 in Michigantown, Ind. to Lorin Waldo & Roxie Blanche (Weaver) Thompson. He married Mary N. Edmonds on January 1, 1955 and she preceded him death in February 1982. His companion of 38 years, Maribelle Toney Cole, preceded him in death on October 13, 2020.
James was a 1951 graduate of Michigantown High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He had worked for Mallory’s for 41 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion and was the oldest surviving member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, was an avid lifetime fan of the Chicago Cubs and loved spending time with his family.
James is survived by daughters: Sherrie Baker of Decatur, Illinois and Tamara “Tammy” (Bob) Becker of Plattsburg, Missouri, additional family: Susan (Ed) Robinson of Frankfort, Sara (Gary) Cooper of Frankfort, Tom Cole of Frankfort, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stephen Baker and a sister, Marybeth Miner.
Funeral Services:
Memorial visitation will be 10-11 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. April, 5, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.
