James P. Chaney, 91, of rural Frankfort, passed away May 1, 2026 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. He was born August 5, 1934 in Tippecanoe County to John L. & Betty E. (Todd) Chaney. He married Judith Stinson on December 18, 1954 and she preceded him in death on February 4, 2026.
James was a 1952 graduate of Colfax High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. James was a life long farmer. He was a member of the Manson Congregational Christian Church. James loved to read, watch westerns and spend time with his family.
James is survived by sons, Jeffery (Carol) Chaney of Crawfordsville, Jamey (Judy) Chaney of Frankfort, Jerry (Stacey) Chaney of Colfax, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, spouse, brother, Donald Chaney and sisters, Jean Chaney and Opal Leap.
