James Samuel Wessell III

James Samuel Wessell III, 50, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in Frankfort.  He was born April 1, 1972, in Kokomo, to James Samuel and Christina J. (Donoho) Wessell, Jr.

James was a 1990 graduate from Frankfort High School then attended Vincennes University. He served his country in the US Navy during the first Gulf War and was a huge patriot. James worked for Frito Lay, in Frankfort, for 26 years in the maintenance department. He had a pilot license, loved NASCAR, the San Diego Chargers, listening to music, playing his guitar, loved his dogs, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his boys.

James is survived by his mother, Christina, of Enterprise, AL; sons, James Samuel Wessell IV, Jesse James Wessell, and Jacob Samuel Wessell, all of Frankfort; stepsons, Jarrod Sanders of Frankfort and Joshua Sanders of Noblesville; brothers, Brett A. Wessell of Frankfort, Magnum Wessell of Enterprise, AL, and Colt A. Wessell of Frankfort; and stepbrother, Christopher Amptmeyer.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Samuel Wessell, Jr.; stepson, Justin Sanders; maternal grandparents, Medford and Gladys Donoho; and paternal grandparents, James Samuel and Loretta Wessell, Sr.

Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2022, from 11am until the time of the service at 2pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort with Pastor Mark Mowrey officiating.  Genda Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.  Memorial donations may be given to the Frankfort American Legion Post #12, 451 W.
