James Thomas Downs, 70, of Frankfort, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Clinton House Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Lebanon, Indiana on August 31, 1950 to Lester T. and Helen (Snow) Downs. He married Joyce Allene “Peg” Cooper on March 20, 1987 in Frankfort; she precedes him in death on April 4, 2014.
James graduated in 1969 from Sheridan High School and from Anderson University in 1973. He had served in the Vietnam War in the Army 101st Airborne Division and was discharged in 1982 with a rank of 1st Sergeant. He was also a member of the Faith Baptist Church.
James worked for Riverview Hospital in Noblesville for 15 years before retiring. He had also worked in Phoenix Arizona as a Paramedic and taught 1st and 2nd graders for a short time. James had lived in Indiana, Texas, Florida, Kentucky, California, and Arizona then returned to Indiana and lived in Noblesville and Mulberry.
James is survived by daughters, Miranda J. (David) Rodriguez of Indiana and Megan (Chris) Weir of Indianapolis; brother, Clarence Ray Thomas of Boynton Beach, FL; sister, Marie (John) Dickenson of Frankfort; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents .
