Janet Elizabeth Walton, 82, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at her home. She was born on August 4, 1939, in Lafayette to Robert W. and Hester M. (Sherlock) Casad. She married Avey Russell “Buck” Walton in Lafayette 1978; he preceded her in death on March 24, 2004.
Janet graduated from Monitor High School in 1957. Prior to marrying Avey, she worked for Haywood Tag, WASK and WMT Traffic, and Fairfield; and then was a homemaker after marrying Avey. She was a member of Eagles Lodge #347. In her free time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her son, Brian (wife, Kay) Walton of Lafayette; granddaughter, Lauren Walton of Lafayette; sister, Barbara Turner of Lebanon; special friend, Bob Uerkwitz of Lafayette and her beloved cat, Buttercup.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Memorial visitation will be held from 2 pm until the start of the memorial service at 4 pm on Saturday , October 9, 2021, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel with Rev. Dr. Chester Tague officiating. Inurnment will be in Zion Cemetery in Lafayette at a later date.
