Janet F. Scott, 79, of Salem, formerly of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was born May 16, 1944, in Indianapolis to Dave Thorton and Hazel Weaver. She married Kenneth Lee Scott in 1961. He preceded her in death May 19, 2019.
Janet was a homemaker and loved caring for her children along with 14 foster children. She enjoyed birdwatching and feeding, going hiking, and going to flea markets with her husband. She made homemade quilts by hand for all of her family. She loved making memories with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Deanie Burtner and Oscar (Cindy) Scott; siblings, Bud, Elsie and Charlie; five grandchildren, Chasity, Justina, Jarvis, Kenny and Kaden; and twelve great grandchildren, Keagon, Kash, Kimber, Allyson, Jordan, Austin, Taylor, Jacob, Colton, Alexis, Britney, and Zach.
Along with her husband, Janet was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Sammy, Carol, and Billy.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2023, from 10am to 12pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Graveside services will follow at Bunnell Cemetery. Messages of condolence maybe left at www.dayandgenda.com.
