Janet Lois (Barnes) Baber, 78, of Kirklin, died May 29, 2024 at I.U. Health University Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. with her family by her side. She was born January 16, 1946 in Burnside, Kentucky to George and Bessie G. (Burris) Barnes. She married John William Baber on October 13, 1964 in Noblesville and he preceded her in death on December 3, 2012.
Janet was a 1965 graduate of Clinton Central High School. She had lived in Burnside Kentucky for 2 years, moving to Clinton County, Indiana and has lived in Kirklin since 1964. She had worked at Delco for 24 years, Heilig-Myers Furniture Store for 2 years, leased apartments for 1 year and became a homemaker after her retirement. Janet was previously a member of the Bible Holiness Church for 62 years and had recently attended Oakland Christian Church for the past 5 years. Janet was an advocate for Clinton and Boone County CASA. She loved her family and her Lord and Savior fiercely. She constantly prayed for anyone in need. She was gracious with her time attending different events for her grandchildren. Her quick wit came out with her wonderful birthday posts she would bless her family with. Janet’s greatest joy was her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her children: John F. (Erica) Baber of rural Frankfort, Sherri (Jason) Albaugh of rural Frankfort, R. Scott (Tracy) Baber of rural Kirklin, Pam R. (John) Kirby of Frankfort, brother: Johnny Barnes, grandchildren: Kalynn, Michael (Shelby), Jeffrey (Marina), Dustin (Briana), Josh (Mattie), Autumn, Cael, Ashton, Raelyn, Keaton, Kyson, Shaya, Baylee, Brody (Amy), Taylor (Enis) and Kye, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandson and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Lyle Barnes, Paul Barnes and Ray Barnes, a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and James Byrd.
Funeral Services:
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Keith Waggoner, Pastor Nick Jaymes and Pastor Mark Mowery. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery.
