Jerry Wayne De Haven

Jerry Wayne De Haven, 64, Rossville, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette.  He was born in Sedalia, MO, on August 12, 1957, to James Harvey and Maggie Helen (Klein) De Haven.  He married Delaina Hufford on June 6, 1981, in Mulberry, and she survives.

Jerry was a 1975 graduate of John Marshall High School in Indianapolis.  He worked as a semi driver for over 40 years for several companies, including Shaffer Trucking, Rich Express, Strasbourg Trucking, G&D Integrated, and was currently at Zenith.  He was a “Jack of all trades”, though he often moved on to another project before one was completed.  He loved being around people and making others laugh with a good joke and his sense of humor.  He enjoyed woodworking and fishing, and his knowledge of guns, whether it was about make or model or repairing that he couldn’t answer, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Along with his wife of 40 years, Jerry is survived by his children, Joshua (Elizabeth) De Haven, James (Bethany) De Haven, Kirsten (Tregg Gabbard) De Haven, Jacob (Hannah Kern) De Haven; siblings, David (Melissa) De Haven and Denise De Haven; and grandchildren, Kristina, Maverick, Katlynn, Reid, Abigail, Everly, and Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Genda Funeral Home – Rossville Chapel.  All are welcome to come and share stories and fellowship to honor Jerry.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.gendafuneralhome.com.
