There is something for everybody at this weekend’s Jingle and Mingle in downtown Frankfort. The event begins at 4 p.m. both Friday and Saturday and runs to at least 7 p.m. at all the downtown businesses.
“We hope everybody comes downtown Saturday,” said John Virtue, who owns Johnny V’s Main Street Grill, Greek’s Pizzeria and Pepe’s. “We’re going to have the parade from 3 to 4. The weather looks good. All the shops are going to be open until 8 and it’s a way to promote the downtown businesses. We’re all looking forward to it.”
Johnny V’s is going to have a very special taste testing from 5-6 p.m.. Hotel Tango, which is a company that was started by an Iraqi War veteran and who goes out of his way to hire Iraqi veterans, will be on-site with his main distiller for those over 21 to enjoy various items to try. Hotel Tango has opened a couple of tasting rooms in the Indianapolis area and the main distillery is in the Fountain Square area.
“We were looking for somebody to do a pre-tasting event during the Jingle and Mingle,” said Virtue. “We’ve done a couple of others in the past and it’s been really popular.”
SHINE 99 with Cindy Loveless will be doing a remote both nights at the following locations: Friday: Lehnen’s Furniture (4-5 p.m.), Gem City Junction (5-6 p.m.) and Ellis Jewelers (6-7 p.m.); Saturday: Simple Thyme Antiques (4-5 p.m.), Johnny V’s Main Street Grill (5-6 p.m.) and Center Township (6-7 p.m.). There will be caroling at Santa’s House in Veteran’s Park from 5-7 p.m.
The Christmas parade will be broadcast Saturday on WILO as well as televised on Hoosierland TV.com with Cindy Loveless and Ken Hartman.
