Joe Clossin, 89, of Frankfort, Indiana died November 11, 2021 at Wesley Manor in Frankfort, Indiana. He was born January 21, 1932 to Ernest and Ethel (True) Clossin. Joe was preceded in death by his two brothers, John Clossin (wife Mary) and Jim Clossin (surviving wife Nancy J. Clossin). He married Nancy Staugaard November 26, 1952 and she survives.
Joe was a Frankfort Senior High School graduate and attended Indiana University Bloomington. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Joe was a Conductor with the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, (Nickle Plate) for 40 years. Prior to the railroad, Joe was associated with Goodwin Funeral Home, assisting with funerals and driving the Goodwin ambulance. Since 1954 was a member of the Moose Lodge #7 and played in the Moose Golf League for years. He made 2 “hole-in-ones” on the Frankfort Golf Course, (holes #2 and #13). Joe was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, Indiana.
Joe loved IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts and staying up to date on all current events. He was an avid reader and an expert in Civil War history. He enjoyed doing crosswords, playing euchre, and spending time with his family. Joe and Nancy loved going on trips, and especially loved their cruise to Alaska. Joe was a kind and humble man with a great sense of humor and dedication to his family. He loved big-band music, dancing and telling stories. His kind and loving spirit will be missed.
Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy Clossin of Frankfort and three daughters, Constance McKenney (husband Mike), of Concord Township, OH, Janna Cripe and Karen Cunningham (husband Brad), both of Frankfort. He had 7 grandchildren, Ryan McKenney (wife Julie), Sarah Grimaldi, Chip Irwin (wife Teresa), Camon Milligan (husband Curt), Brock Irwin, Lindsay Cunningham, (Brandon Reef), Brooke Cunningham (fiancé Douglas Sutton) and 6 great-grandchildren, Olive McKenney, Leo McKenney, Malaya Grimaldi, Korra Grimaldi, Logan Irwin, and Colin Milligan.
Family services were held with burial in Bunnell Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Arborwood in Frankfort, IN at a later date.
