June Woodhouse

June M. Groninger Woodhouse, a fun-loving and Jesus-loving wife, mother, and grandmother of 86, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at her home in Rossville. She was encircled by family and dear friends in the last moments of her life on earth.   She had been ill with dementia for the last year.

June was born in Rockfield in June of 1931 to the late Floyd and Julia (Thomas) Groninger and graduated from Rockfield High School. She was married to the late Roy Woodhouse who preceded her in death almost exactly seven years prior.

June spent her early years as a beautician. After starting a family, she helped her husband with farming for the next 48 years in the surrounding Rossville area.

June will always be known to her family by her nickname, Maimie, which was given to her 38 years ago. She loved to show off to family and others her cheerleading kicking skills, even in the few short months prior to her death. She was a sassy and witty lady who loved to laugh. She has been anxiously awaiting Jesus’ return for many years and was always quick to share the love of Christ with others.

June was preceded in death by her two sisters, Helen Patton and Jean Groninger, and by one son, Ed Woodhouse.

Those surviving are son, Brad Woodhouse of Flora, daughters, Susan Grabert (Michael) of Mt Vernon, IN and Peggy Crum (Rick) of Rossville; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren with two great-grandchildren on the way.
