Kathy Smith served as Superior Court Judge in Clinton County for over two decades. Judge Kathy Smith died late Friday afternoon at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.
Kathy Smith served in many leadership capacities in Clinton County including as Secretary for Camp Cullom (Clinton County Foundation for Youth). Kathy Smith was instrumental in writing several grants for Camp Cullom including new roof work on the lodge, new kitchen rehab, expensive equipment for the Observatory and other capital improvements at the Camp. Kathy Smith first thought of the concept of having a day dedicated to educating children in Science at the Camp, now known as the “Camp Cullom Academy of Science” which takes place annually at the Camp.
After Judge Smith retired, she was in great demand to serve as a substitute when area Judges had to leave the bench temporarily.
”She was a servant of the people” said her sister Diane. The Clinton County Historical Society recognized her as a Clinton County Gem in 2008.
