Kelly Downs Mitchell in Sheriff Race

RICH KELLY

Incumbent Rich Kelly won re-election in the battle against Republican Mark Mitchell in the Primary Election Tuesday in Clinton County.

Kelly wound up with 2,369 votes (57.7 percent) to 1,736 (42.3 percent) for Mitchell.

The sheriff’s race was one of four contested races in the Primary.

For County Council District 1, Carol Price had 257 votes (41.8 percent) She defeated Mark Timmons, who had 200 votes (32.5 percent) and Rhonda Light took third with 158 votes (25.7 percent).

In the Circuit Court Clerk’s race, newcomer Stephanie Harshbarger won with 2,797 votes (74 percent) over incumbent Rhea Harris, who finished with 983 votes (26 percent).

For State Representative District 41, Mark Genda won with 2,217 votes (63.7 percent). Richard Bagsby was second with 642 votes (18.4 percent) and Shane Weist was third at 623 votes (17.9 percent).

In other races:

In the Jackson Township Trustee race, Anita Stewart easily defeated Evan Overbay. Stewart had 165 votes (73.3 percent) to 60 votes (26.7 percent) for Overbay.

In the Michigan Township Trustee race, Nick Bales won with 190 votes (71.2 percent) over Kelly Moore, had 77 votes (28.8 percent).

In uncontested races, winners were Jordan Brewer (County Commissioner District 3), Jake Myers (County Council Disrict 2), Joe Mink (County Council District 3) and Alan Dunn (County Council District 4).
