Kenneth H. “Kenny” Mitchell, 81, of Frankfort, passed away on July 17, 2026, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on June 29, 1945, in Jefferson to parents Hobart James Mitchell and Martha Louise (Miller) Mitchell-Sternes. He married Sally Snyder on November 20, 1964. She survives.

Kenny attended Frankfort Senior High School. He worked for Peter Paul until its closing. He then worked for Sun Chemical from where he retired in 2006. After his retirement he worked at the Frankfort Senior High School and Middle Schools. He was a member of Faith Family Church and the Frankfort Eagles and Moose Lodges. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, going to the NHRA Nationals each year, watching auto racing and professional wrestling. He was a hardworking man with a great sense of humor. Kenny loved telling jokes and playing pranks. Most importantly Kenny was a family man and loved making memories with his family where he was a coach for his children and a cheerleader and supporter of his triplet grandchildren.

Along with his wife of 61 years, Kenny is survived by his children, Mark (Mandi) Mitchell and Angela Mitchell; brother, Jerry Mitchell; sister, Beverly Rogers; sister-in-law, Diana Mitchell; and grandchildren, Ramsey Mitchell, Reece Mitchell, and Raelyn Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Mitchell; sisters, Connie Waters and infant sister, Judy Mitchell; and brother-in-law, David Rogers.

Memorial visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 4pm until the time of the memorial service at 7pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Mark Sanders will officiate.
