The Town of Kirklin has announced that it requires input from the community to aid its application for a Community Development Block Grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for a planning study for a Stormwater and Water Utility Master Plan.
The program is a federally funded grant program intended to benefit community projects; therefore, communities hoping to apply for grant dollars must conduct an income survey of households benefiting from the grant.
The Town announced that in the next couple of weeks, an income survey will be mailed to randomly selected households. Residents are encouraged to complete the survey and return it in a self-addressed, stamped envelope. All gathered information is considered confidential, and only a collective summary will be included in the grant application.
For questions regarding the grant, contact Kirklin Clerk-Treasurer Tara Walker at 765-279-8786.
Through the grant, the federal funds requested may be utilized to help rural communities with a variety of projects that include sewer and water systems, community centers, health and safety programs, fire stations and many others.
According to OCRA, the goals of the infrastructure programs are to protect the health and environment, cut storm water treatment and energy costs, improve rural infrastructure to enable long-term economic growth, protect rivers, lakes and vital landscape and generate jobs and spur economic revitalization.
